Acknowledges male leaders who actively champion women in leadership. This award highlights advocacy, mentorship, and concrete actions that have advanced gender equity within organizations and communities.
Eligibility Requirements:
•Must be currently residing and working in China.
•Currently hold a leadership role in a China-based organization, or
•Work remotely for a China-headquartered company, or
•Previously worked/resided in China and retain significant influence over a company/organization still active here.
•Profile & Commitment:
•Identify as male and serve as proven ally / advocate for women and underrepresented groups.
•Demonstrate sustained, intentional efforts to advance gender equity (e.g., policy changes, mentorship, public advocacy).
Nomination Requirements:
•Impact on Gender Equity
•Clear actions that helped women or minorities (e.g., pay equity adjustments, leadership pipelines, parental leave reforms).
•Long-Term Change: How their support changed workplace or industry norms (e.g., reduced gender disparities, increased representation in leadership).
•Leadership Competencies
•Thought Leadership: Strategies to dismantle systemic barriers (e.g., bias training, inclusive hiring practices).
•Results Leadership: Tangible outcomes from gender equity initiatives (e.g., improved retention rates for women, higher diversity in promotions).
•People Leadership: Active mentorship/sponsorship of women, fostering allyship among male colleagues, and building cross-gender collaboration.
•Personal Leadership: Accountability for promoting equity (e.g., public pledges, self-education on inclusion, transparency in progress).
•Allyship in Action
•Amplifying Voices: Platforms created for women to lead (e.g., speaking opportunities, decision-making roles, influenced standards/policies).
•Challenging Norms: Instances of addressing bias, calling out inequities, or redefining workplace policies to support women.
•Community Impact: Engagement beyond their organization (e.g., industry coalitions, public campaigns for gender equality).
Questions to keep in mind when nominating someone for HEFORSHE:
•What specific actions has the nominee taken to amplify women’s voices in decision-making or leadership roles?
•How have they educated or mobilized men to become active allies in your organization/industry?
•What metrics/stories demonstrate impact on women’s careers (e.g., promotions, pay equity, retention)?
•How do they address intersectional challenges faced by women of diverse backgrounds (e.g., race, disability, LGBTQ+)?
•In what ways have they publicly championed gender equity (e.g., speeches, partnerships, media)?
